Rosaceae Crataegus tracyi

Found on the rocky ledges above streams in the Hill Country and in the Trans-Pecos. The small tree, no more than 15 feet, has white flowers in the spring and ripe reddish fruit in the early fall. A member of the rose family, it has thorns, but still should be protected from deer.
