Founder of Natives of Texas

Betty Streetman Winningham
11/12/1942 - 08/29/2003

Natives of Texas was the culmination of a life's dream for its founder Betty Streetman Winningham. Since childhood Betty's passion was plants. After 30 years of teaching algebra she turned her avocation into a retirement vocation. Her love of plants allowed her to surmount the trials of living with cancer for 39 years and the nursery and her love of Hill Country native plants gave her strength to the end. Her husband and nursery man continue her tradition so others can experience the same joys she saw in plants. Her ashes were mixed in with 2 of her beloved Madrone trees in a memorial site overlooking her nursery. Come visit with her and see the beauty she saw in the Texas hill country.
