Canyon Mock Orange

Saxifragaceae Philadelphus ernestii

Canyon mock orange is a small deciduous shrub with white fragrant flowers that smell like orange blossoms. Flowering in April and May, it is found only rarely in the Hill Country usually near the top of canyons with flowing streams where it cascades over the rocky cliffs.  Deer browse this shrub, so it must be protected.  You will love the fragrance near outside living areas.
