Mountain mahogany is a shrub or small tree and can grow up to 12 feet.  It has toothed-edged leaves which turn a variety of reddish-purple colors in the winter.  It is an interesting and seldom seen shrub in the landscape.  It is very drought-tolerant when established.  Plant in sun in a well-drained spot.
