VINES

Scarlet Leatherflower
Ranunculaceae Clematis texensis

This small native vine is a delight to see blooming. It has red flowers shaped like a closed bell. It is found only in the Texas Hill Country. It has interesting seed pods which look like hairy balls. In the winter the vine will completely disappear, so remember where you planted it. It will return in the spring and be more vigorously each year. The bloom period is March to July. Plant in part sun or as an understory plant.
