FLOWERS & GROUND COVERS

San Luis Sage
Labiatae Salvia microphylla

This salvia is evergreen in the winter and when the warm days of late spring (May) the brilliant red blooms beckon the hummingbirds to your yard. It is also called red velvet sage. Plant in full or part sun and enjoy the color until the cool days of late October. Plant in a well-drained location. Since the leaves have a nice scent the deer will probably leave this one alone. It reaches 2 to 3 feet in height.
