Ironweed
Compositae Vernonia lindheimeri

This perennial has a purple flower that looks somewhat like a corn flower.  It likes dry well drained spots full of limestone or caliche.  It blooms from June to September and can reach up to 2 1/2 feet tall.   It adds texture and some summer color to border plantings
