Fabaceae Caesalpinia gilliesii

This hardy plant, originally from Argentina, has become naturalized in the dry, rocky climate of  Southwest Texas.  It is very drought tolerant and needs full sun and a dry environment.  Its exotic blooms attract butterflies.  The bloom period is May to September.  It can grow up to 8 feet tall.  It needs sun and very little water.
